Check out the picture of my writing space below! I am lucky to have my own little room in our place where I write. It is cosy and absolutely stuffed with books and papers and all the knick-knacks and special mementoes that make me happy. There are five bookshelves chock-a-block with nonfiction books, my favourite childhood books and, best of all, my collection of inspiring writing 'how-to' guides. I even have my trusty typewriter!
I am an emerging writer of predominantly children's fiction, though I have dabbled in stage plays and adult novels. Primarily, picture books and middle-grade are my true passions. As a bookworm and avid writer since I was very small, I have always maintained my dream, and goal, to write children's books for kids like I was.
I have had works published in Writing QLD, CBCA Reading Time, Magpies, Books+Publishing, Young Writers House UK, Oz Kids in Print, South Burnett Times.
I won a longlisting for my picture book text 'Our Street' in the 2022 Just Write For Kids Pitch It! Contest.
I won the 2023 Ian Wilson Memorial Fellowship provided by the May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust, for which I spent 3 weeks writing, networking and soaking up the kidlit world in Adelaide in March 2023.
Winning this fellowship changed my life. It changed and boosted my writing career and opened up many opportunities.
Since then, I have worked hard and continue to work hard at my craft - improving my stories and my writing style and learning as much as I can.
Currently, I have several completed picture book texts and a few middle-grade novels (in contemporary and fantasy genres) and I am always working on new stories.
I am actively working on writing the best stories I can and submitting manuscripts to agents and publishers in an effort to begin my publishing career. Wish me luck!
